I can not get the printer to respond other than to go thru the set up all correctly... and then stop before printing. USB cable looks to be OK and connected properly.

Worris, I think, this question for Lexmark support. Did you've installed drivers for Mainboard?

I have the same problem - with a pair of Lexmark's - both different models M/board drivers didn't fix it.

For this printer you can download the clean utility from the lexmark web site. 1. uninstall the printer from your PC first. 2 . run the clean utility... to clean your registry 3. Install the printer with the driver downloaded from the wed site(The latest version). 4. It will work correctly

yes i have a lexmark x73 i have downloaded the avail. driver, patches and so on right from lexmark's website. the way it appears to me is that for some reason the scanner works fine. however i can not use the printer and it's ask for " install printer and printer driver. is there another site or something u can suggest to help me out here i really need this printer to work so that i can mail resumes out .thank you so much-tammy woody

The X73 worked fine with my old ASRock board, but when i changed it for a new Intel D101Ggc it can´t communicate with the printer; but the scanner (multifunction), connected trougth the same USB cable works OK. Lexmark is not longer offering drivers for this printer; for me this is bad support.
