When trying to install a postscript printer driver via
the Printers window in Windows XP Home, I get the
following error messages:
"Failure in AddPrinterDriver. System error 5. Unable to
load string." and "Failure in AddPrinterDriver (Generic
PostScript Printer) System error: 1797. The printer
driver is unknown."
Can anyone suggest a cause for these error messages and a
possible solution? In trying to install the driver I'm
logged on as a user with administrative privileges and
have disabled all non-essential Windows processes.

Ok, just check your Printer Spooler activity in "Services". Follow these steps: 1. Click "Control Panel" icon 2. Click "Administrative Tools" icon 3. Click "Services" 4. Find in service's list "Print Spooler" service. Service must be started.

I need help! A clean boot operation was performed and now after the process the printers are gone from the computer. It is telling me that the printer spool is not working. I went to admin tools to turn the service on but it will not allow me to do it. Is there any help i can get to fix this problem?

If you cannot start the Spooler service, you better re-install your Windows.
